Lee Yi Kyung Denies Tax Evasion After Getting Notified Of Additional Tax Charges Over One-Person Agency
Lee Yi Kyung’s agency has issued an apology after reports emerged that the actor recently underwent a tax investigation and was notified of additional tax charges.
On the 13th of May, his agency stated, “We sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people because of this matter.”
The agency continued, “Since his debut, Lee Yi Kyung has always complied with tax laws and faithfully fulfilled his duty as a taxpayer. During the recent tax investigation process, he transparently submitted related materials and fully cooperated with the investigation.”
They further explained, “The results of this tax investigation stemmed from differences in interpretation between the tax authorities and our company regarding standards for expense processing during corporate operations,” adding, “We want to make it clear that there was absolutely no intentional concealment of income or illegal tax evasion methods involved.”
The statement concluded, “We respect the National Tax Service’s findings, and the imposed additional taxes will be paid promptly according to the proper procedures.” The agency also added, “Once again, we sincerely apologize for causing concern, and we will more thoroughly review our tax and accounting management systems to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future. We will continue to comply with the law and faithfully fulfill our tax obligations.”
Earlier that day, according to a report from Xports News, Lee Yi Kyung had recently been notified of additional taxes following an investigation by South Korea’s National Tax Service. Reports claimed the issue centered around part of his personal income allegedly being processed as corporate revenue through his one-person agency.
