Leonardo Dicaprio Reportedly Making An Appearance In “Squid Game” Season 3, Netflix Responds
Rumors of Global top star Leonardo DiCaprio appearing in ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 are spreading.
On January 1st, OSEN issued an exclusive report claiming that Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is making an appearance on Netflix mega-hit ‘Squid Game 3.’ The report alleged that all filming was finished and, this year around summar time Season 3 is set to be released. While his screen time is not extensive, the specifics of his character remain under wraps to avoid spoilers.
In response, Netflix stated, “We have also heard about Leonardo DiCaprio’s appearance, but it is not true,” firmly denying the rumor.
Previously, lead actor Lee Jung Jae met Leonardo DiCaprio in 2021 shortly after the release of Season 1 at the “LACMA Art+Film Gala” held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where they took a friendly photo together. The following year, after winning Best Actor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), Lee was asked during a red carpet interview, “Which American actor would you like to see in Season 2?” to which he replied, “Leonardo DiCaprio,” drawing attention.
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk also mentioned at a press conference in September 2022 held at the Westin Chosun in Seoul to commemorate “Squid Game’s” six Emmy wins, “Leonardo DiCaprio directly said he’s a fan of ‘Squid Game,’ so among ourselves, we wondered, ‘Should we make an offer? Should we ask him?’ It’s true that many actors love and admire the series.”
Meanwhile, “Squid Game 2” depicted Gi Hun (played by Lee Jung Jae) returning to the game with a resolve for revenge and his fierce battle with the Front Man (played by Lee Byung Hun), along with the beginning of a new real game. Season 3 is slated for release in the latter half of this year.
