More happy news about Signal’s 2nd season is here!

According to the broadcasting industry on the 16th of July, pre-production for “Signal” season 2 is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with filming set to commence thereafter.

‘Signal’ is a drama that aired on tvN in 2016. It follows detectives from the past and present who communicate through a walkie-talkie to solve long-unsolved cold cases. The series starred Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo, and Cho Jin Woong, and it achieved a peak viewership rating of 13%, marking significant success for a cable channel drama due to its intriguing plot, tight storytelling, and the exceptional performances of its lead actors.

News of the sequel’s production was announced last March in Rome, Italy. Jang Won-seok, the CEO of BA Entertainment, revealed at an event titled ‘The Power of K-Content: The Secret Behind the Korean Film and Drama Boom’ that writer Kim Eun-hee is preparing the script for ‘Signal’ Season 2.

The project is now becoming a reality with the involvement of director Ahn Tae-jin, who swept the Best New Director awards at last year’s Baeksang Arts Awards, Korean Film Critics Association Awards, Grand Bell Awards, and Blue Dragon Film Awards for ‘The Night Owl.’ His film garnered critical acclaim for its masterful suspense and existential themes, and it attracted over 3.32 million viewers in theaters.
