One Of The Key Cast Members Of “Good Partner” Is Reportedly Not Coming Back For Season 2, Here Is Why

Actress Nam Ji Hyun may not join season 2 of “Good Partner.”

According to industry reports on June 24, Nam Ji Hyun and the production team of the upcoming SBS drama “Good Partner” had been in discussions regarding her participation in the new season, but ultimately decided not to proceed due to scheduling conflicts.

The news has surprised fans as many consider the dynamics between Jang Nara and Nam Ji Hyun to be one of the best things about the series.

Season 2 of “Good Partner” has officially entered production and is scheduled to begin filming in the first half of next year. Actress Jang Nara, who led season 1 alongside Nam Ji Hyun, is reportedly considering her return positively.

“Good Partner” is a human legal office drama that aired from July to September last year, telling the story of Cha Eun Kyung (played by Jang Nara), a top divorce lawyer, and Han Yoo Ri (played by Nam Ji Hyun), a rookie experiencing divorce cases for the first time. The drama captured viewers with its realistic portrayal of divorce cases and compelling characters, achieving a peak viewership rating of 17.7%.

Nam Ji Hyun received praise for her performance as Han Yoo Ri, portraying the character’s growth from a legal novice to a skilled divorce attorney.

As season 2 moves forward, viewers had been especially eager to see whether the lead actors from season 1, including Nam Ji Hyun and Jang Nara, would return. SBS confirmed in April that production for season 2 is indeed underway, raising anticipation.

With Nam Ji Hyun now confirmed to not return, attention turns to how the drama will unfold without her and what new storyline will be introduced.

Meanwhile, Nam Ji Hyun is currently filming the upcoming KBS2 drama “Dear My Thief” (literal title), set to air next year. The drama is a romantic historical comedy about a woman who accidentally becomes a thief and a Joseon royal whose soul switches with hers, leading to a journey of mutual rescue and growth. Nam Ji Hyun stars opposite actor Moon Sang Min.
