Nana Breaks Silence, Apologizes Over Backlash Surrounding Her Lips In Netflix’s ‘The Scandal’

Actress Nana is addressing the harsh backlash surrounding her new Netflix Original series head-on.

On September 22, Nana took to the paid fan communication platform Bubble to share her honest thoughts on the response to “The Scandal,” a remake of the 2003 film “Untold Scandal,” which premiered on September 18.

While the series drew attention ahead of its release, it faced mixed and often harsh reviews once it aired. Among the criticism, some viewers claimed that Nana’s lips were drawing more attention than her acting, with some comments veering into appearance-based criticism.

Addressing the backlash directly, Nana wrote, “If my lips made viewers uncomfortable, that’s my fault.” She added, “I think my personal choice was the wrong choice for an actress.”

She continued, expressing concern for her fans rather than herself: “I think the fans who love me will feel hurt seeing my harsh reviews, so I feel even more sorry. Going forward, I’ll try to work hard so we can hear good things together.”

In “The Scandal,” Nana plays Hui Yeon, a woman who becomes a young widow before even having her wedding ceremony, living out her days having given up everything in an era that denied her the right to her own life in the name of chastity and virtue.
