Park Bo Gum And Shin Ye Eun’s New Drama ‘Night Traveler’ Thrown Into Chaos Amid Cancellation And Exit Rumors
The drama “Night Traveler,” which was set to star Park Bo Gum and Shin Ye Eun, has been thrown into chaos with rumors of production collapse and cast departures. The production company says it’s keeping the door open to continue discussions.
On September 28, when asked by Ten Asia whether Park Bo Gum and Shin Ye Eun’s departures were confirmed, the “Night Traveler” production company said, “We are leaving the possibility of production open and continuing discussions,” declining to give specifics on whether broadcast placement or production had fallen through. Shin Ye Eun’s agency NPIO Entertainment also said only, “Please contact the production company for related details.”
Earlier that day, YTN reported that “Night Traveler” had completed major casting and was in discussions for a broadcast slot since last year, but that those plans ultimately fell through, leaving production struggling. As production stalled, both Park Bo Gum and Shin Ye Eun reportedly expressed intent to exit the project.
News of Park Bo Gum and Shin Ye Eun’s casting had previously generated buzz, as it would mark the first time the two starred together as leads, fueling anticipation for their new romantic pairing. But with the production and broadcast placement in question, along with now the exit rumors, whether the two will actually appear together has become uncertain.
“Night Traveler” is based on the Chinese novel “Ye Lu Ren,” translated and published in Korea under the same title. The script is written by writer Yoon Ji Ryun, known for “Boys Over Flowers” and “Move to Heaven.”
Park Bo Gum recently appeared in a special variety program marking the 10th anniversary of “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds” and has upcoming films “Dream of the Wandering Garden” and “The Blade and the Sword of Godmak Han” ahead of him. Shin Ye Eun starred as Yook Ha Ri in “Dr. Slump” (Korean: “Doctor Seomboi”), which wrapped in July.
