The breast cancer awareness campaign hosted by W Korea, which has been under controversy for several days, has drawn renewed attention as it was reported that actress Park Bo Young was unable to stand on the photo wall at last year’s event due to “stockings.”

On the 17th of October, Dispatch reported that at last year’s W Korea campaign, an actress could not attend the scheduled red carpet because she did not wear the sponsor brand’s stockings due to size issues. It was later reported that the actress was Park Bo Young. In fact, red carpet photos of Park Bo Young from the event are unavailable, and photos shared on SNS show her without wearing stockings.

Regarding this, on the 17th of October, Park Bo Young’s agency BH Entertainment told Xports News, “There is no official statement we can provide.” They explained that, as it was an event from last year, it is difficult to verify, and commenting might divert attention from the core of the ongoing campaign controversy.

Meanwhile, the host W Korea has remained silent for several days without issuing any statements regarding the ongoing criticisms.

The 20th W Korea Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Event was held on the afternoon of the 15th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dangju-dong, Seoul. The event featured a dazzling lineup, including actors, idols, comedians, and influencers, resembling an awards ceremony.

However, after the event, photos and videos released on the official account sparked criticism that the event resembled a “champagne party,” which did not align with the purpose of the campaign. Additional controversy arose when Jay Park performed his song “Mommae,” which describes the female body, and other idol group performances included suggestive illustrations.

Despite being held in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and conducted with sponsorships and donations from various brands, there were no visible pink ribbons or pink-themed outfits representing the campaign’s purpose.

With issues from previous events being brought up again, attention is now on whether W Korea will finally respond to the controversy.
