“They Even Came To See Me Before My Wedding,” Actress Park Ha Sun Opens Up About Experiencing Stalking
On the JTBC variety show Knowing Bros, actress Park Ha Sun opened up about experiencing stalking.
During the episode aired on the 18th of April, guests including Ye Ji Won, Jung Bo Suk, and Park Ha Sun appeared.
Park Ha Sun first shared that she had experienced bullying in the past. She said, “When I was in my third year of high school, the show ‘Challenge Golden Bell’ came to film at our school. I guess I looked pretty at the time, so a writer told me to act cute with announcer Kim Bo Min. I did it, but the backlash was so big that you could even see people swearing on screen.”
She continued, “Since it was an all-girls school, there were a lot of intimidating seniors. If I got on the bus, they would curse at me, and even when I was just walking, they would open the bus window and shout insults,” adding, “The writer told me to do it, but people thought it was my own doing and didn’t like me. I didn’t even have money, but I took taxis to avoid it. Then I got criticized for taking taxis too.”
In addition, Park Ha Sun revealed that she suffered from stalking for a long time. She said, “In my 20s, I met a fan, and when they asked for an autograph, they usually ask you to write ‘I love you.’ I normally don’t write that, but they got angry and insisted, so I wrote it—and that became ‘our first day’ for them,” adding, “They even came to see me right before my wedding, bringing a lot of diaries and asking what I was going to do.”
She also shared the difficulty of taking legal action, saying, “I reported it as stalking, but they avoided it well. They wrote my name slightly differently, so if it wasn’t exactly ‘Park Ha Sun,’ it was hard to report. Even when I submitted it as evidence, they said there was nothing they could do,” and added, “That’s why I don’t post on social media the same day. If I post in real time, not only that person but others might come find me.”
