Park Hyung Sik Addresses Rumors Of Receiving More Than $300,000 Per Episode Of Newly Concluded Drama
Actor Park Hyung Sik has clarified the rumor that his appearance fee per episode amounts to 400 million to 500 million won [$290,150-$362,688].
On September 16, one media outlet reported that Ma Dong Seok, who appeared in KBS 2TV’s ‘Twelve,’ received 500 million won per episode, while Park Hyung Sik received 400 million won. The production cost of the 8-episode drama ‘Twelve’ was on the scale of 22 to 23 billion won, and among that, the appearance fees of the two lead actors accounted for around 30%, this led to immense backlash from netizens who wondered why the salaries of both actors accounted for such a large amount of the drama’s budget.
His agency has since addressed the report and said on the 17th of September, “From the initially reported ‘Doctor Slump’ to this time’s ‘Twelve,’ the reports about Park Hyung Sik’s appearance fee exposed through the media are different from the truth. Because it is being treated as if it were established fact despite being different from reality, we are delivering an official position.”
They continued, “Park Hyung Sik is sincerely carrying out each work he takes on. We would be grateful if you could watch over his future activities with warm eyes.”
Previously, Park Hyung Sik was also caught up in the rumor that he received 500 million won per episode when he appeared in JTBC’s ‘Doctor Slump’ last year.
Park Hyung Sik debuted in 2010 as the main vocalist of the group ‘ZE:A.’ After that, he appeared in dramas such as ‘The Heirs,’ ‘Strong Girl Do Bong Soon,’ ‘Doctor Slump,’ and ‘Treasure Island,’ solidifying his position as an actor.
