Park Min Young Denies Receiving Financial Support From Ex-Boyfriend After Dispatch’s New Report
Actress Park Min Young has denied allegations that she received financial support from her ex-boyfriend Kang Jong-hyun.
On January 15, Dispatch released an expose and basically accused Park Min Young of receiving financial support of 250 million won [$190,000] from Kang Jong-hyun, despite her previous denial. The report stated that money from Kang Jong-hyun’s related company was deposited into Park Min Young’s account under the pretext of living expenses.
Park Min Young’s agency, Hook Entertainment, then issued a statement addressing the said report, “In February 2023, Park Min Young was questioned by the prosecution as a witness regarding the fact that Kang Jong-hyun used Park Min Young’s account under a different name. Through this, it was clearly stated that Park Min Young did not participate in any illegal activities or gain illegal profits. The mentioned 250 million won was used in Park Min Young’s account by Kang Jong-hyun, but it was not used as the actress’s living expenses.”
Furthermore, the agency emphasized, “For over a year, Park Min Young has been misunderstood due to false information. Despite this, she regrets and reflects on her actions, which were not cautious enough, while accepting criticism from many people. As an actress, she is devoting herself to her main job of acting and showing good performances in good works. We hope that there will be no more repeated incidents that damage Park Min Young’s reputation through baseless accusations.”
Park Min Young was caught up in rumors of dating businessman Kang Jong-hyun, who was identified as the actual owner of the cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb in September of 2022. After Kang was involved in various suspicions, Park Min Young also underwent a prosecution investigation as a witness. The controversy intensified when it was revealed that Park Min Young’s older sister had served as an outside director at a subsidiary of Bithumb, where Kang’s sister was the CEO. At the time, Park Min Young’s agency stated, “She has broken up with the person involved in the dating rumors. She did not receive any financial support.”
