Rumors Of Kim Soo Hyun’s Comeback With Disney+ “Knock Off” Go Viral, Disney+ Denies It
Disney+ has addressed reports claiming that the series “Knock-Off,” starring Kim Soo Hyun, would be included in this year’s release lineup.
A recent media outlet reported that Disney+ is preparing to schedule the unreleased series “Knock-Off,” which has been delayed for about a year. Following the report, Kim Soo Hyun’s legal representative, attorney Go Sang Rok, wrote on his personal channel that he believes the report is “highly likely to be true,” adding fuel to speculation about the actor’s return.
Then, on the 3rd of March, Disney+ told Xports News, “There are no additional updates beyond our previous statement,” drawing a clear line regarding the speculation.
Previously, in March of last year, it was reported that after careful consideration, the platform decided to put the release plans for “Knock-Off” on hold. In November, during the “Disney+ Original Preview 2025” event held in Hong Kong, Disney+ also did not mention “Knock-Off” in its lineup for this year, maintaining its existing stance.
“Knock-Off” is a drama about a man whose life is completely overturned by the 1997 Asian financial crisis and who rises to become the king of the global counterfeit market. The project had been known as Kim Soo Hyun’s next work.
With a reported production budget of 60 billion won, the Disney+ tentpole series had generated high expectations. However, after Kim Soo Hyun became embroiled in a personal controversy early last year, all release plans—including a production presentation originally scheduled for April—were canceled.
