Ryu Seung Bum Fined Several Times For Illegally Drive In A Bus-Only Lane While Operating Company’s Vehicle

It has been confirmed that actor Ryu Seung Bum was fined multiple times for illegally driving in a bus-only lane while operating a company vehicle.

According to a report by TenAsia on May 22, Ryu Seung Bum personally drove his agency’s Carnival vehicle during the filming of the Netflix movie “Good News” and repeatedly used bus-only lanes while traveling to filming locations. As a result, his agency was fined several hundred thousand won in penalties.

Under Article 61 of South Korea’s Road Traffic Act, passenger cars that violate bus-only lane regulations are subject to a 60,000 won fine and 30 penalty points, while vans receive a 70,000 won fine and 30 penalty points. To legally use a bus-only lane, a vehicle with at least 9 seats must have 6 or more passengers onboard. Even accidental entry into the lane is subject to enforcement.

At the time, Ryu Seung Bum was signed under Y1 Entertainment and had a manager assigned to him. However, he reportedly drove the agency vehicle alone without a manager accompanying him while commuting to filming locations. The vehicle he used was a 7-seater Carnival, a model not permitted to use bus-only lanes.

When caught directly by police, the driver receives both fines and penalty points. However, when violations are recorded by automated traffic cameras, the vehicle owner receives the fine instead. This explains why the agency reportedly received several hundred thousand won in fines while Ryu Seung Bum himself did not receive penalty points despite allegedly using the lane multiple times.

Following his marriage, Ryu Seung Bum has reportedly been traveling between Slovakia and South Korea while continuing his acting activities. Although he maintains a residence in Korea, he does not own a personal vehicle and is said to have used company vehicles for both filming schedules and personal activities.

Meanwhile, Ryu Seung Bum recently ended his exclusive contract with Y1 Entertainment after around three years. He is currently wrapping up filming for the Netflix series “Dealer.”
