Bullying Allegations Lawsuit From Rising Actress Ends With No Indictment, Actress’s PR Agency Expresses Frustration And Pleads With The Public
Actress Shim Eun Woo’s side has issued a statement regarding past school bullying allegations and shared insights to how the actress has been feeling after the no-indictment verdict was reached.
On the 21st of March, JIB Company, handling PR for Shim Eun Woo, released an official statement addressing the defamation lawsuit and its outcome following allegations made in an online community post in 2021.
They stated, “The case resulted in a ‘no indictment’ decision, not because school violence was confirmed but due to insufficient evidence to support defamation charges.” They further claimed that clear evidence proving Shim Eun Woo was not the perpetrator was verified during the investigation.
Additionally, they argued that the actual perpetrator of the incident described by the accuser (A) was someone else. “Interviews and statements proving this were prepared, but A refused to acknowledge it,” they said. They also pointed out that a classmate mentioned in A’s claims could not recall the incident, adding that A’s false accusations had harmed multiple people.
Shim Eun Woo’s side also clarified that the apology letter she wrote in 2021 was at the request of the production team. “Despite the fact that the production team asked for it to prevent her removal from the drama, the media interpreted it as an admission of school bullying,” they said, expressing their frustration. They also revealed that in July last year, the drama’s PD sent an email apologizing, admitting that the letter had led to misunderstandings.
Furthermore, they criticized A for continuing the controversy even after the actual perpetrator had been identified, including demanding a lie detector test. “A even suggested in media interviews that the ‘no indictment’ decision meant school bullying was confirmed,” they claimed. They also stated that A sent a legal notice urging Shim Eun Woo to stop protesting her innocence while demanding financial compensation. “For over four years, she has had to step down from projects and has struggled to make a living,” they lamented.
Shim Eun Woo’s side revealed that she had lost her passion for acting due to these allegations and had suffered severe mental and physical distress. “Despite continuous psychological counseling, her health has deteriorated to the point of developing anxiety and tic disorders,” they shared. They also stated that her family had suffered extreme emotional distress.
They concluded by pleading for an end to the spread of false information and expressed hope that Shim Eun Woo could finally clear her name. JIB Company added, “From this moment on, we hope that Shim Eun Woo can break free from the false label of a ‘school bully’ and regain the life she lost.”
