Six individuals, including a police officer, a prosecutor, and journalists, have been handed over to the prosecution without detention for leaking information regarding the investigation into the late actor Lee Sun Kyun.

On the 8th of July, the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Division of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency announced that Police Officer A from the Incheon Police Agency and Investigator B from the Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office were sent to the prosecution on charges of leaking official secrets and violating the Personal Information Protection Act on July 27th.

Officer A is suspected of leaking a report to a journalist containing information about the progress of the investigation into Lee Sun Kyun’s drug case. The report was written by the Incheon Police Agency’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Division on October 18th of last year and included personal information such as the names, criminal records, status, and occupations of the parties involved in Lee Sun Kyun’s drug case.

Investigator B is accused of providing information regarding the internal investigation into Lee Sun Kyun’s drug allegations to a daily newspaper in the Gyeonggi region. This media outlet exclusively reported on October 19th of last year with the headline “Top Star L Under Investigation for Drug Allegations.”

Furthermore, four journalists affiliated with entertainment media outlets are also being handed over to the prosecution for sharing and spreading the investigation’s progress received from these individuals or writing articles based on the information.

Meanwhile, Lee Sun Kyun passed away on December 27th last year while under investigation by the police on drug use suspicions.
