Rising Actress Hit With Bullying Accusations Fights Back, Revealed To Have Spent A Lot Of Time Gathering Evidence, Will Proceed With Legal Action
Rising actress Song Ha Yoon, who was previously embroiled in school bullying allegations, has announced legal action nearly a year after the controversy began.
On July 2, Song Ha Yoon’s legal representative from the law firm Ji-eum stated, “Regarding the school violence controversy raised about 20 years ago involving Song Ha Yoon last year, the actress has consistently stated since the beginning that the allegations are not true. However, proving that something never happened is extremely difficult, which is why she could not respond more actively at the time.”
They continued, “Since then, Song Ha Yoon has worked to gather evidence proving that the claims made by the original accuser, Mr. Oh, were false. As a result, she has now secured substantial evidence and has filed a criminal complaint against Mr. Oh.”
The law firm explained, “Mr. Oh is currently residing in the U.S. and has claimed to be a U.S. citizen, refusing to cooperate with the investigation. However, the police, through official channels such as the Ministry of Justice, confirmed that Mr. Oh still holds Korean nationality and proceeded with the investigation. Mr. Oh has continued to refuse to return to Korea and cooperate. Should he enter Korea, the police will be notified immediately, and the investigation will resume.”
They also stated, “Song Ha Yoon is currently reviewing possible legal actions that can be taken within the U.S., and she is also preparing with her legal team to hold any third parties involved in spreading false information accountable through civil and criminal measures.”
The law firm emphasized, “During her high school years, Song Ha Yoon never committed any act of violence against Mr. Oh, nor was she ever forcibly transferred due to school violence. We have submitted official records, notarized statements, and evidence to investigators that disprove these claims.”
Even a former classmate who was reportedly a witness to the alleged incident, as well as Song’s homeroom teacher at the time, have both denied the bullying allegations.
“Song Ha Yoon has suffered severe damage to her reputation built over 22 years and endured intense emotional distress due to this unlawful act,” they said. “With her contract with her previous agency now expired, she is preparing for a fresh start in a new environment. She is determined to return before the public with a more humble and mature mindset.”
Back in April of last year, Song Ha Yoon—who had been enjoying the peak of her popularity following her role in Marry My Husband—faced bullying accusations from a former high school classmate. At the time, her agency stated, “Upon checking with the actress, we confirmed she does not even know the accuser and that none of the claims are true,” and also added that they were “reviewing civil and criminal action against the informant, as well as an injunction against JTBC’s Case Number, which aired the claims.”
