Song Jae Rim’s Final Movie Filmed Prior To His Tragic Passing Confirms Release Date

The late actor Song Jae Rim’s work will be immortalized in the upcoming film “Collapse,” set for release on January 15 next year. The distributor, Mooam, along with production company Film Brothers, announced this news on December 9.

“Collapse” is based on the true story of a global cryptocurrency crash that led to the loss of 50 trillion won [around $35 billion], shaking the financial world. Directed by Hyun Haeri, a former investigative documentary producer, the movie aims to portray the stark realities of the startup world. With extensive research and legal consultations, the film offers a realistic yet satirical take on the life of a young entrepreneur faced with irreversible decisions.

Song Jae Rim stars as Yang Do Hyun, the developer of a fictional cryptocurrency called MOMMY. The cast also includes Ahn Woo Yeon (“Jealousy Incarnate,” “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon”), Min Sung Wook (Disney+ series Big Bet), So Hee Jung (Kairos), and Cha Jung Won (The Beauty Inside). Together, they bring to life a compelling narrative filled with intense drama and striking realism.

Director Hyun Haeri expressed her intention to blend realism with sharp commentary, adding elements of black comedy to the storyline. As one of Song Jae Rim’s final projects, the film is expected to showcase his passion and talent for acting.

“Collapse” is supported by the Korea Creative Content Agency’s New Media Content Division and will be a poignant reminder of Song Jae Rim’s legacy in the film industry.
