One Of The Most Beloved Veteran Actors Reveals He Was Born Out Of Wedlock
Actor Sung Dong Il revealed that he was born out of wedlock.
On the JTBC show “Before It’s Too Late: Language Training – Shalala,” which aired on the 1st of March, actors Sung Dong Il and Uhm Ki Joon appeared and shared their heartbreaking family stories.
During the broadcast, Uhm Ki Joon shared, “My father battled an illness from when I was in the fifth grade until he passed away when I was in my first year of high school,” adding that he has very few memories with him.
Sung Dong Il sympathized, saying he also had no memories with his father, but for a different reason.
He revealed, “I was born out of wedlock and later had children of my own. Since I have no memories with my father, I don’t know how to play with my kids,” expressing his struggles.
He continued, “If I were a younger dad, I could go skiing with them, but I can’t. Playing baseball or soccer with them is also difficult. I feel really sorry.”
He also shared, “My wife was worried that since I don’t know what a father-child relationship is like, I might treat our kids the same way my father treated me.”
Sung Dong Il recalled, “Joon once told me, ‘Dad, you were scary.’ I feel sorry for my kids these days. Now that I’m trying to change, I even have to adjust my way of speaking. I regret not doing this sooner.”
Meanwhile, Sung Dong Il has a son, Sung Joon, and two daughters, Sung Bin and Sung Yool.
In the past, he revealed on another program that he had not seen his father for 20 years and did not attend his funeral.
