“Sweet Home 3” Director Addresses The Mixed Reactions To 2nd Season, Promises A Difference With The 3rd Season
“Sweet Home 3” Director has addressed the feedback the drama’s 2nd season received which was admittedly harsher than the favorable reception the 1st season received.
Recently, a press conference for ‘Sweet Home 3’ was held. Director Lee Eung Bok, who helmed the series, stated, “Season 3 is literally ‘Comeback Home.’ It tells the story of lovers, friends, and comrades separated by the monsterization crisis reuniting, returning home, and overcoming crises together. Lee Eun Hyuk (played by Lee Do Hyun) returns, and there is much more of Cha Hyun Soo (played by Song Kang). I hope the fun returns as well.”
‘Sweet Home’ made a significant impact upon its release, becoming the first Korean content to break into the U.S. Netflix Top 10. However, Season 2 received mixed reviews. Released last December, it shifted from the original setting of Green Home to an external world, the stadium. This change introduced many new characters and narratives, leading to some critiques of a slower pace.
Director Lee Eung Bok acknowledged the feedback, saying, “The various opinions on Season 2 made us rethink the core parts of the story. We wrapped up with the intention of returning to our roots, and I believe Season 3 will meet expectations.” Go Min Si, who has been with the series from the beginning, noted, “Season 3 moves much faster than Season 2. I monitored it three times, and it was very enjoyable. Hyun Soo shows a much more mature charm. I once told Song Kang on set, ‘Your eyes have stories now,’ and I think that will resonate with viewers.”
The upcoming ‘Sweet Home 3′ will unravel unresolved storylines from previous seasons, depicting characters facing new changes. Key points of interest include Hyun Soo, who can now see into the monsters’ inner workings and how this affects the monster crisis, and Lee Eun Hyuk, who returns as an immortal, emotionless new human.
