Highly Anticipated Upcoming Drama To Delete All Footage Filmed At Cultural Heritage Site After Causing Damage During Filming
KBS has decided to discard all footage of its new drama “I Took the Male Lead’s First Night” after controversy arose over damage to a cultural heritage site during filming.
On January 15, KBS confirmed that all scenes filmed at Byeongsan Seowon, a historic Confucian academy in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, have been completely discarded.
The controversy began when it was revealed that the production team had nailed into seven areas of the cultural site, including six spots on the beams of the pavilion Manjaeru and one spot on a pillar of the dormitory Dongjae. In response, the city of Andong expressed strong regret and formally requested that KBS discard the footage.
KBS stated, “We take full responsibility for the damage to the cultural heritage,” and complied with Andong’s request by deciding to scrap all the filmed material.
“I Took the Male Lead’s First Night” is a fantasy romance drama about a college student whose soul becomes trapped in the body of a minor background character in a romance novel. The story takes a dramatic turn when the character spends the night with the novel’s obsessive male lead. The drama stars Seohyun and Ok Taecyeon in lead roles.
