Won Bin who recently appeared in a new commercial has reignited calls for his long-awaited return to acting. The commercial, for a cosmetics brand he models for, features Won Bin in a white suit, narrating with his signature deep voice. Despite a 15-year hiatus from acting, Won Bin’s unchanged visual appeal continues to captivate fans.
After ending his coffee brand endorsement last year, Won Bin’s reappearance in this ad offered fans a glimpse into his current status, sparking renewed anticipation for his comeback.
Won Bin debuted in 1997 with the KBS drama “Propose” and gained fame through roles through “Autumn in My Heart,” and “Mother,” establishing himself as a beloved actor across both films and dramas. However, since his last film, “The Man from Nowhere” (2010), Won Bin has been on an extended hiatus from acting.
During this period, Won Bin married actress Lee Na Young in 2015 and welcomed their son later that year. While absent from the screen, he has continued to make appearances through advertisements.

In 2019, rumors of Won Bin’s retirement surfaced when promotional materials for a photoshoot requested the term “actor” not be used in articles. Although the photoshoot’s PR agency claimed this was per Won Bin’s request, his agency denied the claims, stating, “We never requested such phrasing. It was the brand’s decision for marketing purposes. Won Bin is still reviewing potential projects.”
Despite assurances, Won Bin has remained out of the public eye, even skipping events like the 20th-anniversary celebration of his iconic film, “Taegukgi.”

In November 2024, designer Ji Chun Hee mentioned Won Bin’s ongoing project reviews during an appearance on KBS2’s “The Boss Has Donkey Ears.” She commented, “It’s not that he doesn’t want to act; it seems there’s a lot of pressure. From what I know, he’s still looking at scripts.”
