Famous Singer Joins Cast of Highly Anticipated Upcoming Action Film
Singer-actor WOODZ (real name Cho Seung Yeon) is joining the cast of the upcoming film “Nambeol.”
“Nambeol” is a hard-boiled martial arts action film set in the early Joseon era, following nine warriors of vastly different skill and social standing as they head to Tsushima Island to rescue captives taken by Japanese pirates.
On the 23rd, the production said, “We expect WOODZ’s addition to bring fresh energy to the project.”
WOODZ plays “Cheonnom,” a sharpshooting archer with unmatched skill who sets out on the dangerous mission to Tsushima to provide for the family he left behind. Driven by a strong sense of responsibility toward his family and comrades, “Cheonnom” is expected to add deep emotional layers to the film through his desperate resolve to protect everyone around him on the brutal battlefield.
“Nambeol” is drawing major attention as the directorial debut of cinematographer Lee Mogae, known for his distinctive visual style on hard-hitting films like “Seoul Spring,” “Exhuma,” “Hunt,” “Yadang: The Snitch,” and “Emergency Declaration.” Lee Mogae has been recognized for his exceptional eye, winning the Art Award in Film at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards, Cinematography and Lighting Awards at the 43rd and 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards, and Cinematography Awards at the 31st and 29th Blue Dragon Film Awards. He’s expected to bring his sharp directing instincts to bear on this sprawling story, layering in intense action and striking visuals.
Meanwhile, “Nambeol” previously announced the casting of Lee Byung Hun, Go Youn Jung, and Lee Do Hyun, and is currently in pre-production with a targeted shoot start in the second half of 2026.
