Yook Sungjae, Bona and Kim Ji Hoon Confirmed For Upcoming SBS Drama
Yook Sungjae, Bona and Kim Ji Hoon are set to lead the upcoming SBS drama “The Haunted Palace.”
The SBS TV drama “The Haunted Palace” is scheduled to air next year. The series revolves around the story of “Yoon Gap” (played by Yook Sungjae), who is possessed by an Imoogi (a mythical serpent), and a shaman named “Yeori” (played by Bona), as they face off against the Eight-Foot Ghost, who holds a grudge against the royal family.
The drama is directed by Yoon Sung-sik, known for “Mr. Queen,” and written by Yoon Soo-jung, who previously worked on “The King’s Face” (2014-2015). It is produced by Yook Sungjae’s agency, iWill Media.
Yook Sungjae will be taking on a dual role. His character Yoon Gap is both a royal archivist and Yeori’s first love, who strives to protect the palace from chaos caused by the Eight-Foot Ghost. He also becomes possessed by the malevolent spirit of the Imoogi, which wishes to ascend by using Yeori’s body. Yeori, who is destined to be a spirit medium but refuses her fate, is the granddaughter of a renowned shaman and possesses exceptional spiritual abilities. However, she becomes entangled with the Imoogi and ultimately turns into a glasses artisan.
Kim Ji Hoon will portray King Yi-seong, a reformist monarch aiming to build a strong Joseon. Initially, he prohibits the entry of shamans into the palace, but as ominous events continue to unfold, he joins forces with Yoon Gap and Yeori to uncover the secrets of the Eight-Foot Ghost.
