Yoon Si Yoon has revealed an unexpected reason that made him hesitant about marriage, sharing candid family stories involving his mother that sparked mixed reactions from viewers.
On the most recent episode of KBS2’s variety program “Fun-Staurant,” Kim Jae Joong invited his close same-age friends Choi Jin Hyuk, Yoon Si Yoon, and Yoo Seon Ho to his home, where they engaged in an honest and relaxed conversation.
The discussion naturally shifted toward marriage. Kim Jae Joong mentioned that his parents often bring up the topic of marriage, to which Choi Jin Hyuk responded with humor, saying his mother does not directly talk about marriage but constantly nags about other things. He jokingly added that living with his mother feels like living in a “bunker,” making it difficult to even date.
Choi Jin Hyuk also shared a surprising anecdote, saying that his mother listens in on phone calls and even repeats his private conversations to others the next day, turning the studio into laughter. He added that his mother doesn’t seem to like him dating and might even prefer that he doesn’t get married.
Yoon Si Yoon then related to the story, saying, “My mom tells me to get married, but I feel like that might not really be what she truly wants,” expressing the bittersweet reality with a laugh.
He then shocked the cast by revealing a past incident involving his ex-girlfriend. Yoon Si Yoon said, “I was being driven by my mom’s car and asked her to drop me off near a station because I was meeting my girlfriend. But she just drove past it. When I asked again, she suddenly shouted ‘I don’t know!’ while grabbing the steering wheel and crying.”
Kim Jae Joong jokingly responded, “So in the end, isn’t it your mother who’s stopping you from getting married?” to which Yoon Si Yoon laughed and admitted, “Honestly, that might be true. My mother has a big influence on me.” Choi Jin Hyuk also agreed, saying he experienced something similar.
The two actors also noted that they are both only sons, which added another layer of context to their stories. Yoon Si Yoon carefully explained, “From a mother’s perspective, I think I might feel like her only source of emotional support.”
