“Lovely Runner” has sadly come to an end earlier today, let us recap the finale and explain the ending!

“Lovely Runner” episode 16 recap
The episode begins with police chasing Kim Young-Soo, Sun Jae is also trying to locate Sol after remembering her but he collapses on the group as the chase comes close to him. Kim Young-Soo tries to run him over but Tae-Sung interferes and makes sure this doesn’t happen.
Tae-Sung then chases Kim Young-Soo on foot as he escapes the location but then he gets run over by a truck and his body is thrown to the river where he dies. Sol hears of this and runs to Sun Jae as she’s afraid, Sun Jae is also running towards her, she tries to lie about knowing him but he tells her he remembers her, they hug and kiss.
Sun Jae tells her later that he never really forgotten about her as they both sit in his apartment hugging each other.
Sol is busy writing scripts and Sun Jae insists on seeing her, so he comes to a café and sits across her and bothers her the entire time. They move to a library but people also recognize him immediately.
Lim Geum gets casted as a sick husband in a daily drama but his face is also bandaged and he cannot be seen clearly.
After Sun Jae takes Sol to work in his apartment, he leaves her alone until she’s done. Then he says they should leave and he can drive her back home, she misunderstands him and thinks they’re sleeping together. She overhears him talking on the phone about staying over and says yes, only to realize he was not talking to her. She’s embarrassed but they do end up spending the night together.
When they wake up the next morning, they say ‘I love you’ to each other. When Sol leaves his place, she jokes about how they’re acting like newlyweds. He is flustered and decides to propose to her. He wants to pick a ring while his teammates help him out. In-Hyuk explains it must remain a surprise or else its ruined.
At the same time, photos of their date the other day spread like wild fire. Sol is worried about him but Sun Jae is not bothered. Tae-Sung runs into them as they’re driving back home and Sun Jae, who gets jealous, gets out to introduce himself as her boyfriend.
Sun Jae and Tae-Sung end up drinking heavily as Sun Jae gets confused and realizes in this life time, he did not date Sol. At the end of their meeting, Sun Jae hugs him and thanks him for how he’s helped them break the cycle.
Sun Jae finds out that Sol’s parents and her brother are having their child’s 1st birthday, so he wants to be there. Accidentally, the brother books Sun Jae’s father place and Sol tries to stop Sun Jae from showing up but he insists.
Eventually, the two families meet and Sun Jae’s father is happy his son is so happy and smiling like that. Sun Jae even invites his band to sing at the child’s birthday promising them all sorts of gifts.
After that meeting, Sun Jae takes Sol on an expensive boat and is planning a proposal and she jokes that he’s planning on doing one. He gets figured out and tries his best to hide it, he barely could fool her and he didn’t propose that day.
Sol also explains she wants to be a director and will be super busy but Sun Jae is happy for her.
Sol then becomes busy working on her movie and finally is done with it.
The couple walks by the spring cherry blossom, he helps her catch some petals and as she closes her eyes to wish for something, he places the ring in her fingers. He says he doesn’t want to apart from her longer anymore, she happily accepts his proposal.
The two share a kiss and then imagine themselves getting married.
