“Squid Game 2” Ending Explained
Netflix has unveiled the 7 episodes of the 2nd season of “Squid Game,” let us recap the finale and explain the ending!

Myung-Gi panics after he kills rapper Thanos [T.O.P]. A fight breaks in the men’s room with people on both sides dying.
The prize money increases and as both sides get back from the bathroom, they blame each other.
Meanwhile, the boat driver Captain Park is messing with the drone and a man from the squad sees him, he decides to stab him and throw him off the boat.
Back in the games place, both parties count their losses and we find out that the people who voted to stay lost more, thus, they’re aware a fight will break out as they go to sleep.
Young Il suggests they attack first but Gi Hun disagrees, he thinks they should wait. They will attack the guards as they try to calm down the situation, take their guns and go up to the management to stop the games. Because of this, many on their side will die. Gi Hun says some will die but its a sacrifice they have to make.
As the lights go out, a fight breaks out and both sides attack each other. Caught in the crossfire, Se-Mi dies in front of Min-Soo who is too chicken to save her.
As guards arrives, the remaining men attack and seize their guns, they leave one man and collect all the guns. They ask others to join them as they plan to go upstairs. Some come with them.
The pink masked man begins leading them but gets killed on the way. He explains he must use his mask to enter so they do go far up ahead. However, they need amo and they’re surrounded. Thus, Gi Hun takes Jung-Bae with him and the rest fight them off including Young Il.
Gi Hun makes strides and goes up far ahead but he’s surrounded, he needs amo and backup. So he calls for Young Il. Thus, Young Il comes with two men while Dae-Ho goes to get amo, however, Dae-Ho goes silent and is shocked by the sounds of guns. He loses it and doesn’t come back up.
Due to this, Hyun-Ju goes back down to fetch the amo.
However, soon the men in pink outnumber them. They make their way to downstairs and as Hyun-Ju was about to defend herself, the grandma tells her not to, so she puts down her gun.
The men in pink surround the other men stuck in the middle and kill them one by one. Kyung-Suk, who has a sick daughter pleads for mercy but is shot, however, it does appear the person who shot him is No-Eul.
Young Il goes upstairs with two men and kills them, he fakes his death to Gi Hun. He then go back and changes to his front man costume. The men in pink surround Gi Hun and his friend. The front man tells him he wanted to play hero and this is the result of his actions, he kills his friend in front of him. Gi Hun loses it.

Squid Game season 2 ending review
As for initial thoughts on the drama…. It was good… but not great…. Expectations were high and it was going to be very difficult to maintain it. The mystic surrounding the idea has also worn off which makes it not hit as hard as it did the first time.
This time its much more predictable as I knew who would get killed when. Its in order of the highest billed actors. If you know the Korean actors in this production you could guess the order in which they die.
In short, I don’t understand how Gi Hun rejoining the games makes any sense… it lacks basic sense in my opinion which makes the entire premise fall through… but I do understand why he had to go back from a writing perspective. I think with his money, it would’ve suited him better if he had found people he could get on the inside and try to rescue or expose the operation from the outside.
The moment he participated in the games, he already lost based on principle. He’s outnumbered and the people who join such games will be very desperate. I don’t understand what he hoped for. You’d have to be delusional to think you could change it that much.
It makes sense he didn’t die in the end, he wouldn’t die. And I suspect Kyung-Suk [the little girl’s father] will also not die, at least I hope.
I also think the front man told that boat guy to rescue his brother and shot him in a specific location to save his life. The boat guy was suspicious to begin with too.
Like I said a couple of years back in my review of the original season, the games idea is intriguing but if you dig into what its about and who’s behind it, what makes it special falls through.
The idea that the rich love watching poor people struggle is not new, not innovative nor anything special. So, when it was revealed to be just that…. It wasn’t anything special back then and it wouldn’t be one even now.
Even when I was talking about how great the production, direction and acting was, It was going to be very challenging to make the reasoning behind the games not sound silly upon further inspection.
Also, they’re outsmarted in every way because they’re going up against rich chaebols. Gi Hun’s approach was going to be lacking from the get go, he needs a miracle to expose this.
I am sure we might get a somewhat happy ending with season 3, but I hope to god that it won’t reach for a 4th season.
I still think this season was nice. They’re trying to further expand on it and I believe they shot season 3 with it too, I am guessing we’ll have to wait at least half a year for the other half….
I am curious to see how director Hwang ends this. The dude must’ve been under severe pressure. Let us see how he ends this.
