29-Year-Old Korean Singer Jin Denim Passes Away After Fatal Fall Due To Illness
Singer Jin Denim (Kim Jung Yeop) has passed away. He was 29 years old.
Jin Denim’s younger sister announced his death on the 3rd of January, stating, “On the evening of December 17, 2025, my older brother passed away due to an accident.” According to her, the cause of death was a fatal fall resulting from symptoms related to an illness. Jindanim had been receiving treatment since 2015 for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia-related symptoms.
She explained that he was aware of his condition and had continued hospital treatment and medication in an effort to manage his symptoms. However, his condition worsened rapidly in recent times, reaching a point where it could no longer be controlled by family support alone.
She added that even during his long battle with illness, he relied on his faith to sustain his life and tried to share love and belief with those around him. Due to the nature of his illness, impulsive behaviors repeatedly appeared, which were symptoms unrelated to his own will. As a result, both he and his family endured great pain for a long time.
Emphasizing the circumstances, his sister stated clearly that his death was not a suicide but an accidental fall caused by his illness. She shared that he often said during his lifetime, “The day I leave will be a joyful day when I go to heaven, so don’t be sad.” She asked that he be remembered not only through sorrow, but through the music he left behind and the warm memories of him.
Jin Denim was laid to rest at Evergreen Arboretum in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.
A graduate of the prestigious Fudan University in China, Jin Denim began busking in Hongdae in 2016. From 2017, under the name SingSing, he released albums such as “Naturalism” and “Bloom.” In 2020, he adopted the new stage name Jin Denim and released works including “Venus of the Moon” and “Fairy Tale.”
