2NE1 Re-Signs With YG Entertainment, Preparing A Tour Very Soon
2NE1 is preparing something special for fans soon!
YG Entertainment, the agency of 2NE1, revealed a welcome back poster through their official SNS on the 22nd of July.
Yang Hyun Suk, YG’s overall producer, stated, “2NE1 was the first girl group to succeed in YG. The members expressed their desire to hold a 15th anniversary concert, and we decided to make it happen within this year.” He continued, “We have already reserved concert venues in Seoul in early October, and in Osaka and Tokyo at the end of November and December. We plan to coordinate additional schedules. I think this concert will be very special. The generation that grew up with 2NE1 and their music are sharing memories together. We want to make a successful concert by putting in effort along with all the staff, as there are so many hit songs and friends that are amazing.”
Sandara Park also wrote on her personal account, “What’s up, we’re 2NE1. Welcome back.”
2NE1 debuted in 2009 with “Lollipop,” breaking away from the conventional stereotypes of girl groups and showcasing new music and concepts, which gained them global popularity. With various genres and images, such as “I Don’t Care,” “Ugly,” “Lonely,” “I Love You,” “Come Back Home,” “Missing You,” “Fire,” “Can’t Nobody,” and “I Am the Best,” they enjoyed continuous success. However, in a surprise announcement on November 25, 2016, they suddenly disbanded, shocking their fans.
Afterward, the members revealed that they had not heard about the disbandment from YG or CEO Yang Hyun Suk and only found out through news articles, causing even more shock.
As they make a comeback after a hiatus of 8 years, expectations are high for what fresh attempts they will bring to deliver a pleasant shock.
