TRENDING: ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s Geon Woo Halts Activities Following Attitude Controversy, Writes Apology Letter To Fans
ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s Geon Woo will be halting activities for the time being!
His agency WakeOne stated on the 8th of April: “First, we deeply apologize to the fans who cherish and support ALPHA DRIVE ONE for the delayed statement. Our company should support our artists so they can focus on activities in a stable environment and manage them to possess the basic attitudes and standards required as artists. However, we feel heavy responsibility for not fully understanding this.”
Continuing, “Regarding the statements made by Kim Geon-woo raised online, we will explain the facts. The incident occurred at a pre-debut content filming site. At that time, Kim Geon-woo expressed dissatisfaction with inappropriate expressions without realizing the microphone was on. The statement was not directed at a specific person as criticism or personal attack, but came out as a monologue. However, this was inappropriate speech under any circumstances. We once again deeply apologize to the staff on-site who felt uncomfortable because of this. We are also sincerely sorry for causing concern to our fans.”
WakeOne explained: “Immediately after the incident, we conveyed our apologies to the production team, and we judged the matter had been concluded through mutual communication. Additionally, considering that separately stating our position could place additional burden or embarrassment on the production team, we did not disclose a separate stance. However, various false suspicions were subsequently raised online, and the process of verifying the truth of each content took longer, delaying our statement. Various suspicions currently raised online besides this matter are untrue. We ask that you refrain from indiscriminate spreading of unverified content. Nevertheless, our failure to explain promptly to you was our company’s clear judgment deficiency.”
WakeOne added: “Kim Geon-woo is deeply reflecting on this incident. After discussions with our company, Kim Geon-woo has decided to take time for self-reflection. Therefore, Kim Geon-woo will not participate in currently prepared activities and fan concerts. For the time being, ALPHA DRIVE ONE will continue activities in a seven-member lineup excluding Kim Geon-woo. However, we ask for understanding that broadcasts and some content where filming and production were completed prior to the activity suspension may be released according to scheduled dates.”
Furthermore, “Our company is reviewing overall internal and external communication methods, and we are also reconsidering our artist management system. We will closely examine deficient areas, supplement related standards and management systems, and organize response processes so that more prompt and responsible guidance can be provided in the future. Additionally, we will continuously strengthen education and support for artists to prevent similar incidents from recurring.”
Kim Geon-woo also apologized through a handwritten letter.
He wrote: “First, I want to say sorry to the fans who support us, the ALPHA DRIVE ONE members who always work together with us, the staff who work hard on-site, and all the staff who work hard for us. Due to my immature words and actions, I caused concern to many people and showed disappointing appearances. I want to say sorry once again to everyone who may have been hurt by this incident.”
Kim Geon-woo continued: “I never thought the great love I have received since before debut was taken for granted. Yet I showed behavior opposite to my promise to repay the fans who support me, which I find disappointing and regrettable myself. Through this incident, I keenly felt how foolish my actions were and how lacking I am as a person.”
Kim Geon-woo stated: “From now on, I will act with responsibility in every moment and deeply reflect and pay attention so this incident never repeats. I will take time to look at myself once again and do my best to return as a mature person. Once again, I sincerely apologize to everyone. I am sorry.”
