Some Netizens Accuse The Military Of Favoritism Towards BTS’s V After What Min Hee Jin Said, The Army Center Finally Responds
BTS member V (real name Kim Taehyung), currently serving in the military, has been cleared of allegations regarding the “use of a mobile phone during early morning hours as a trainee,” with an official statement asserting that no special privileges were granted.
According to a response to a civilian inquiry released on the 21st of November via an online community, the Military Police Unit of the Army’s 2nd Corps stated, “At the Army Training Center where Kim Taehyung served, trainees are allowed to use mobile phones for one hour during weekends and public holidays. Kim Taehyung used the phone in accordance with the Training Center’s guidelines, during the designated afternoon usage time, not in the early morning.”
The official further clarified, “There is no evidence to suggest that Kim Taehyung was specifically permitted, overlooked, or allowed to use a mobile phone outside the approved hours.”
The controversy began after former ADOR CEO Min Heejin appeared on the YouTube channel Kim Youngdae’s School of Music on October 29 and mentioned that V had sent her a birthday message in the early hours. Min’s birthday is December 16, which was just five days after V began his military service, leading to suspicions that V might have used his phone outside permissible hours due to alleged “celebrity privileges.”
Min stated during the interview, “V occasionally calls me from the military. He’s such a cheerful and lively friend. Despite what I was going through (referring to her dispute with HYBE), he contacted me to ask, ‘Noona, are you okay?’” She also mentioned receiving a birthday message from him.
Currently, V is serving in the Army’s 2nd Corps “Double Dragon” Military Police Unit under the Special Duty Team (SDT).
