Popular Kpop Idol Gets Exempted From The Military, Here Is What Happened

ASTRO‘s JinJin (29, real name Park Jinwoo) has been exempted from mandatory military service due to an autoimmune disease.

On June 2, his agency Fantagio announced through ASTRO’s official fan café: “We would like to inform you regarding JinJin’s military service. JinJin has been deemed unfit for service following a detailed physical examination by the Military Manpower Administration due to health issues related to an autoimmune disorder.”

Fantagio explained, “Although JinJin is able to carry out daily activities without difficulty, he requires regular hospital visits for checkups and management. Based on a medical assessment that special group living, such as military service, would be too taxing, he has been granted an exemption.”

The agency added, “We will prioritize JinJin’s health as we continue with his future activities.”

They also expressed gratitude to fans: “We sincerely thank all the fans who have always shown great support, and we ask for your continued interest in JinJin’s activities.”

ASTRO debuted in February 2016 with the album “Spring Up.” JinJin serves as the group’s leader and main rapper.

In October 2023, JinJin released the single “Wave in my heart,” a collaboration with rapper YUNHWAY, which he also produced. Last year, he participated in producing ASTRO’s 8th anniversary special singles “Circles” and “Fly (Duet with Moonbin of ASTRO).”

He has also ventured into musical theater, performing in “Winter Wanderer” (2023–2024) and the upcoming “Dream High” (2025).
