Both the Taiwanese and Korean industry is in shock after the sudden passing of Barbie Hsu.

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu (Xu Xiyuan, 48), wife of Clon member DJ Koo (Koo Jun Yup), has passed away due to pneumonia, Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA) reported on the 3rd of February.

Her younger sister, TV personality Dee Hsu (Xu Xidi), stated through an agent, “Our entire family was on a trip to Japan when my dearest and most affectionate sister, Barbie Hsu, sadly passed away due to pneumonia caused by influenza.”

Barbie Hsu gained fame as the lead actress in the Taiwanese version of the drama Meteor Garden. In Korea, she was popularly known as “Taiwan’s Geum Jan Di,” named after the heroine of the Korean adaptation Boys Over Flowers.

She married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011 and had a daughter (10) and a son (8) before divorcing in 2021. In 2022, she remarried DJ Koo, drawing significant attention in both the Korean and Taiwanese entertainment industries.
