MBC’s hit drama “Black Out” has wrapped up its run on TV with its 14th episode airing earlier today, let us recap the finale and explain the ending!

The episode begins with a throwback to just how much Su-O loved Da Eun. Back in the present day, Jung-Woo discovers the doctor’s dead body. Meanwhile, his uncle Gu-Tak is colliding with another party to transfer.
Jung-Woo goes to the hospital to get treated and discovers his mother moved her hands so she should be waking up soon.
The assemblywoman prepares her letter after her husband’s death after killing him. She’s not concerned at all.
Gu-Tak finds out the husband died and calls her, he offers his condolences and she asks him to make sure she can mourn him well. Sang-Cheol wants to do an autopsy but it seems it’ll be stopped.
When the next day comes, Jung-Woo’s mother finally wakes up and asks what happened, he says he found one body and they’re reopening his case.
Na-Kyeom is visited by her CEO but she keeps yelling for Jung-Woo, she knows now she’s a hopeless case.
The assemblywoman delivers a speech playing the victim for her re-election while Gu-Tak discovers Su-O had kept Da Eun’s body down there and took care of it. He locks him out of the room and sets it on fire. Jung-Woo had visited Min-Soo in jail who tells him everything was organized by Gu-Tak himself. So he heads out to see him and discovers Su-O on the road.
He rushes downstairs and discovers that Gu-Tak is about to set the body on fire, he has a fight with him and gets beaten up. He tries to tell Jung Woo to just let it go but he refuses and Gu-Tak tries to lock him out and burn the body.
He does so briefly and closes the door as he enhales the fumes. He admits he did all of this for himself and his own reputation. Jung-Woo opens the door forcibly and rescues him saying he doesn’t deserve to live.
Ha Seol goes back to school to let the doctor know she’s reporting him for what happened to that patient who died. She doesn’t want to live with that guilt and decided to do the right thing.
Na-Kyeom gets then sentenced for several things including the concealment of evidence in the case 11 years ago. The assemblywoman also faces consequences for destroying evidence from the same case.
Jung-Woo’s mom tells him she’s sick of the town and they should leave. Sang-Cheol then introduces him to his lawyer friend and he re-tells his story, he then gets acquitted from the charges of the case 11 years ago and is declared not guilty.
Sang-Cheol congratulates him after his win and wishes him the best. He tells him to live his life and not give up or become so wary of people. They hug it out as he leaves.
Detective Kim who was in charge of the investigation gets out and visits Gu-Tak who is now serving time in jail too.
Sang-Cheol visits his father-in-law for his birthday and the man tells him its not his fault but Sang-Cheol is not having any of it, he insists its his fault what happened to her.
Jung-Woo goes back to medical school joining Seol. Su-O is now with his mother’s care. The mother opened her own shop in a new city. Na-Kyeom has been admitted to mental hospital and is still delusional.
Jung-Woo goes to a river and spreads roses thinking of the people he lost and how much he loves them.

So, I’ve heard a lot of good things about “Black Out” a couple of weeks after the premiere. Over time, many people began talking about it and as time went by, the ratings began to show drastic improvement even when going up against the hit SBS drama “Good Partner.” So, I went back and watched it.
Overall, I’d say that “Black Out” was INTENSE. It’ll definitely raise your blood pressure, its not healthy to re-watch this because its so darn intense. I just hated all the town’s people.
If there is a character in a 2024 kdrama that had the worst time its probably Jung-Woo. The poor guy went through so much, I can’t even begin to fathom the heartache and mental anguish it had on him.
I am glad he got his happy ending with his mother, and they’re so sweet for even taking in Su-O despite his father’s horrible actions. I could never be this nice knowing what happened.
Byun Yo-Han will likely be nominated for a daesang in this year’s MBC drama awards and he should at LEAST win an award. He deserves it, he’s so amazing in this role, I just felt so bad for him.
