Former Manager From Famous Agency Used Celebrities Details To Take Out Loans, Illegal Loan Sharks Come After The Agency Demanding The Money
A controversy has arisen after it was revealed that a manager from Big Planet Made Entertainment used celebrity contact information stored on their phone as collateral for illegal loans.
On the 16th of October, One Hundred, the parent company of Big Planet Made Entertainment, issued a statement revealing this information.
One Hundred explained, “Manager A from Big Planet Made Entertainment used the contact information on their phone as collateral to take out small loans from around 40 illegal loan companies. When A was unable to repay the loans, these companies started contacting and threatening the people whose phone numbers had been used as collateral.”
After being first contacted by a loan shark on September 30th, the company immediately dismissed A. However, the loan-related contacts continued.
One Hundred added, “We initially expected the situation to be resolved as a personal financial issue for A, but today, an illegal loan company contacted us again, threatening us with abusive language and demanding that we resolve A’s financial problems. Realizing that this was no longer just an internal matter, we felt the need to disclose the entire situation to prevent further innocent victims.”
According to One Hundred, the phone numbers passed on to the loan companies totaled over 1,200, including contacts of Big Planet Made employees, affiliated celebrities, and individuals from A’s previous employers, including entertainment companies and broadcasters.
One Hundred stated, “Illegal loan companies are now leaving threatening calls and messages to Big Planet Made staff. There is also a high chance that, over time, they will begin contacting others in A’s phone. We take the gravity of this situation seriously and have reported the loan companies to the police while preparing legal action.”
There are concerns about further potential harm. One Hundred expressed, “Our employees are currently unable to perform their regular duties due to fear caused by the relentless phone threats from these loan companies. We are also worried that more victims, similar to us, may emerge from the phone numbers A used as collateral.”
The company also urged, “If you receive any threatening calls or messages from illegal loan companies related to A, please report them to the police immediately. We sincerely apologize to those whose personal information has been leaked due to the actions of our former employee.”
One Hundred was founded in 2003 by Cha Gawon, Chairman of Piak Group, and singer-producer MC Mong. Big Planet Made Entertainment, one of One Hundred’s labels, is home to celebrities such as the girl group VIVIZ, singers Lee Seunggi, Lee Mujin, Taemin, Ha Sungwoon, and TV personality Lee Soogeun. As of now, no celebrity-related damages have been reported.
