BREAKING: Joo Haknyeon To Leave THE BOYZ After Meeting With An AV Japanese Actress
Joo Haknyeon is leaving THE BOYZ due to personal controversy!
On June 18, One Hundred announced that Joo Haknyeon would be leaving THE BOYZ following a recent personal controversy. The group will continue as a 10-member team.
The issue has been brewing for some time, as rumors said he had met with an AV Japanese actress back in May and the agency had previously caused worry among fans after announcing his hiatus a couple of days back, citing personal reasons. Then, Earlier today, a questionnaire obtained by News1 from Japanese outlet Shukan Bunshun alleged that on the night of May 29, Joo Haknyeon visited a bar in Roppongi with acquaintances he knew in Japan. During the gathering, which reportedly lasted until the early morning hours, he was seen hugging Asuka Kirara and she was observed placing her chin on his shoulder, among other actions.
Born in 1999, Joo Haknyeon is 11 years younger than Asuka Kirara, who was born in 1988. Asuka debuted as an AV actress in 2007 and is now active as an influencer.
Joo Haknyeon has been on hiatus since June 16. The agency commented, “We have looked into the facts surrounding the personal issue. We concluded that it has become difficult for him to maintain trust as an artist.”
The agency stated, “We took the gravity of Joo Haknyeon’s personal issue very seriously. After thorough discussions with THE BOYZ and Joo Haknyeon, it was decided that he would leave the group.”
The agency added, “Effective immediately, Joo Haknyeon will end all group activities. This was an unavoidable decision made to protect the members and the team. We ask for your understanding.”
They concluded by stating, “We will do our best to support the remaining members of THE BOYZ so they can continue healthy and stable activities. We sincerely apologize for the concern caused to fans.”
Joo Haknyeon first gained public attention in 2017 through Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 1 and debuted later that year with THE BOYZ.
