“The Airport Is Not Ours,” BTS Member Speaks Out About Disorderly Fans At The Airport

BTS member V has spoken out against disorderly fans, gaining attention as many praised him for his comments.

Recently, V took to the fan communication platform Weverse and shared his thoughts on airport safety while chatting with fans.

During a live broadcast that day, V addressed the recent incident where he couldn’t pose for photos at the airport due to safety concerns, saying, “The airport isn’t ours, is it?” In reality, some inconsiderate fans have repeatedly caused dangerous situations by failing to maintain order during V’s arrivals and departures at the airport.

V also expressed his hope for the revival of the so-called “Purple Line.” This was a campaign voluntarily initiated by about 20 BTS fans in 2018, where they held purple ribbons—symbolic of BTS—and created a respectful boundary to ensure the members’ safe arrival.

V said, “If the Purple Line from back then could be brought back, and if people could just keep things orderly and safe, that would be great. Then I could think more about what to wear to the airport—maybe even wear a suit.”

Meanwhile, V was officially discharged from the military on June 10 at the 2nd Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. He enlisted as an active-duty soldier in the Army on December 11, 2023, and served faithfully for 18 months as part of the Special Task Force under the Military Police Corps.

At the press event held to mark his discharge, V said, “Since entering the military, I used that time to reset both my body and mind. I’ve rebuilt myself physically and mentally, and I want to run to ARMY as soon as possible. I’m truly grateful to the ARMY who waited for me, and if you wait just a little longer, we’ll return with amazing performances.”

He also said, “Many of the officers and soldiers who looked after me are still in the unit. I hope they all stay safe and complete their service without injury. Thank you to all the officers and soldiers who took care of me. I’ll do my best to become a great person out in society. Salute.” When asked what he wanted to do most after discharge, he answered, “The stage.”

V is currently preparing for BTS’s full-group comeback, scheduled for next spring. He had been staying in the U.S. to focus on album production, but returned temporarily to Korea to attend the military discharge ceremony of a close junior on July 28, which drew attention from fans.
