Former IZ*ONE Member Apologizes To Boy Group Fans For This Ridiculous Reason
Former IZ*ONE member and singer Lee Chaeyeon has addressed and apologized regarding a conflict involving ONF fans.
Recently, Lee Chaeyeon shared a video on her YouTube channel showing the process of preparing a flea market at her home with close artist friends. The video featured singer Baekho, Lovelyz’s Kei, dancer Lee Sang Hee, and ONF members E-Tion, Seungjun, and Min Kyun.
The issue arose after the video was released. Some ONF fans criticized Lee Chaeyeon, arguing it was inappropriate for the members to appear in the video just about a week before their solo concert, as it interfered with their preparations. Much of the criticism was directed at her.
In response, Lee Chaeyeon posted a lengthy message on a fan communication platform, stating, “Since I started YouTube, I’ve never invited anyone whom people told me not to invite, and I get confirmation for every little thing, even thumbnails. If there’s a flaw, I’m ready to correct it immediately, and if something is wrong, I’m ready to fix it.”
She added, “The flea market preparation process was fully announced in advance. It turns out the company wasn’t aware, so they told me not to upload the preparation video. I know what part they’re worried about. But then they shouldn’t have come. Why should the other guest sellers suffer… What did the PDs and directors who edited and filmed the video do to deserve this?”
She revealed that she had even adjusted the flea market schedule for ONF. “I told them not to do it if the schedule didn’t work. Do you know why it turned into 6 parts? Because they really wanted to participate, and they had a fan signing event that day. So I scheduled it for after the fan sign and booked guests for every part accordingly,” she explained.
Lee Chaeyeon continued, “These artists wanted to meet fans up close and actively prepared for it. What responsibility exactly am I supposed to bear?” and added firmly, “Let me make it clear. I will never ask them to appear again. Even if they want to, I’ll stop them.”
She went on to say, “You might think, ‘Who are you to say that?’ but I really cared and wanted to support my oppas too. I regret it deeply. If their fans want, I’m ready to delete the video.”
However, as the post spread and debates erupted online, Lee Chaeyeon posted again, saying, “I didn’t want to hide in silence after making such a big issue because that would be cowardly and lead to more misunderstandings. That’s why I’m writing again,. Since I wrote that post late at night while feeling upset, I tried not to be emotional, but reading it again today, I realize it was very emotional.”
She added, “It’s natural that there are various opinions, and I understand very well that not all opinions represent the majority. Seeing other people feeling hurt beyond myself makes me even more sorry. I feel like I disturbed the excitement and joy of the upcoming big event,” she said apologetically.
Finally, she wrote, “I hope everyone can calm down and comfort each other. We’re all trying hard to live in this sharp and harsh world… We’re already busy supporting and consoling each other. I’ll do my best not to hurt the hearts of the seniors and our fans,” and added, “I will not act in a way that I’ll be ashamed of in the future.”
