Famous Girl Group Leader Reportedly Reuniting With The Producer Behind Her Biggest Hits In First Agency Move In 7 Years
2NE1‘s CL is reportedly joining forces with Teddy.
According to a News1 report on October 28, CL is in talks to sign an exclusive contract with The Black Label. She has also recently finished filming the music video for her new song, raising expectations for her comeback.
After leaving YG Entertainment in 2019, CL founded the one-person agency Very Cherry and continued her activities. With this move, she will be nesting in a new agency for the first time in about 7 years.
CL debuted in 2009 as a member of YG Entertainment’s girl group 2NE1. As the leader and rapper, she was loved for many hit songs such as “Fire,” “I Don’t Care,” “I Am the Best,” and “Come Back Home.” She also expanded into a solo career, entering the US Billboard Hot 100 main singles chart with “LIFTED,” released in 2016.
Afterward, CL ended her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment in November 2019 and went solo. She founded Very Cherry the following year and continued her activities, and in 2021, she released her first full-length album “ALPHA,” unfolding her own music world as a solo artist.
2NE1 also resumed activities as a complete group. In 2022, CL performed with Park Bom, Sandara Park, and Gong Minzy at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the US, showing a full-group stage for the first time in about 7 years, which became a hot topic. Then, in 2025, for their 15th debut anniversary, they held a full-group concert in collaboration with YG Entertainment.
The Black Label, which CL is joining, is a music label founded in 2016 by producer Teddy, formerly of YG Entertainment. Teddy has had a long connection with CL, having worked on 2NE1’s signature songs such as “Fire,” “I Don’t Care,” and “I Am the Best.” Attention is also focused on the fact that the two will work together again at The Black Label.
The Black Label’s roster includes BIGBANG’s Taeyang, Rosé, Jeon Somi, MEOVV, and ALLDAY PROJECT. Expectations are also building for the new music activities CL will show after reuniting with Teddy following her move to The Black Label.
