Producers Of Deep Fake Videos Of Famous HYBE Girl Group Get Arrested And Sentenced To Prison

The producer of a deepfake video involving ILLIT has been sentenced to prison.

On June 30, ILLIT’s agency BELIFT LAB stated that a person who made deep fake videos of its group has been arrested and sentenced to prison. The agency said they’ve been continuously monitoring the situation and taking legal action with the help of fans’ reports.

The agency said, “Several perpetrators who created deepfake videos of the artist have been apprehended and sentenced to prison. Even when using anonymous platforms such as Telegram, it is possible to track both the creators and distributors through international legal cooperation. We are actively cooperating with investigative agencies to ensure strong punishment for the offenders and protect the artist’s rights.”

They continued, “We are monitoring domestic communities (such as Naver, Daum, Nate, Theqoo, DC Inside, Instiz, Ilgan Best, FM Korea, Melon, etc.) and international social media platforms (X, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) for false information, defamation, and sexual harassment against the artist. We regularly file criminal complaints against those who post malicious content that infringes on the artist’s rights. We clearly state once again that we will take all possible legal measures against such unlawful acts without any settlements or leniency.”

The agency promised to do its best to protect ILLIT in the future too.

Meanwhile, ILLIT recently made a comeback with their new song “My Cat Is Borrowed” on June 16 and is actively promoting.
