The State Of A Beloved Korean Celebrity Who Lost His Wife Recently Breaks Fans’ Hearts, Reportedly Planning To Move Closer To Her Resting Place
The state of DJ Koo has shocked and saddened netizens.
On July 28, Taiwanese media outlet ET Today reported that Koo Jun Yup, who has lost a noticeable amount of weight, visits Barbie Hsu’s resting place daily, saying, “Even the rain can’t stop him.”
The outlet continued, “He was seen sitting in a chair reading a book or looking at images of the late Barbie Hsu on a tablet. He cleaned the grave and tidied up the surrounding area.”
Eyewitnesses who saw Koo Jun Yup at the location said, “We’re not sure how long he stays, but he was there when we arrived in the morning and still there when we left. He’s always alone and quiet. One time, we even heard the sound of him playing music. From behind, he looked deeply sorrowful.”
Previously, a netizen also shared a photo of Koo Jun Yup sitting in front of Barbie Hsu’s grave and commented, “He’s the kindest man I’ve ever seen. I hope he can overcome this pain.” The photo showed him quietly sitting in front of her grave under the blazing sun, wearing a hat, drawing attention.
The netizen added, “We were on our way to offer flowers to Barbie Hsu and recognized Koo Jun Yup. He politely thanked us. Honestly, seeing him like that broke my heart. I can’t imagine the pain of suddenly losing someone you love.”
ET Today also noted that news of Koo Jun Yup visiting Barbie Hsu’s grave every day has been reported in Korean media, and has touched the hearts of not only Taiwanese but also Korean netizens.
Meanwhile, Barbie Hsu passed away in February while on a family trip to Japan due to pneumonia and sepsis caused by the flu. She and Koo Jun Yup first met in 1998 and dated for a year before breaking up. She later married Wang Xiaofei and had a son and daughter but divorced in 2021. After reuniting with Koo Jun Yup after over 20 years, the two officially married in 2022.
Following Barbie Hsu’s passing, Koo Jun Yup shared, “Right now, I’m going through a time of indescribable sorrow and pain, as if my heart is being torn apart.” Her funeral was held 42 days after her death in Taiwan. Although a tree burial was initially considered, Koo Jun Yup said, “I wanted to have a space where I could always visit Barbie and be with her. After discussing with the family, we decided to choose a different burial site.”
Taiwanese media also previously reported in March that Koo Jun Yup had gone into seclusion after the funeral and had lost so much weight he was unrecognizable. There were also reports that he was preparing to move into an apartment overlooking the resting place location, where Barbie Hsu is buried, but this has not been officially confirmed.
