Dynamic Duo’s Gaeko Surprises With Divorce Announcement After 14 Years Of Marriage, Ex-wife’s Past Remarks Re-examined
Hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo member Gaeko (Kim Yoon Seong, 45) has divorced his wife, influencer Kim Soo Mi (43).
On the 16th of January, Gaeko announced the divorce through his Instagram, saying, “Last year, after a long period of many conversations, we decided to end our relationship as a married couple while respecting each other’s lives.”
After 14 years of marriage, the two have chosen to go their separate ways. Gaeko added, “The two of us will continue to fulfill our roles responsibly as parents through joint custody,” and said, “We ask that you watch over us with warm understanding.”
On the same day, Kim Soo Mi also shared on social media, “After sufficient conversations last year, we decided to organize our relationship as a married couple through a choice that respects each other’s lives. Moving forward, both of us will continue our responsibilities and roles as parents together without change.”
Gaeko and Kim Soo Mi married in 2011 and welcomed their first son the same year. In 2015, they had their second child, a daughter.
After Gaeko’s surprising reveal, his former wife Kim Soo Mi’s past remarks have been brought back into the spotlight.
In April last year, Kim Soo Mi appeared on singer Lee Ji Hye’s YouTube channel and shared that she ended up getting married after becoming pregnant while Gaeko was serving in the military.
On that day, when Lee Ji Hye asked, “I heard your business income was better than Gaeko’s at one point,” Kim Soo Mi responded, “I don’t know exactly how much my husband earns, but when I first started my business, I was earning quite a lot too.”
Lee Ji Hye reacted with surprise, saying, “That’s amazing. To think there was a time when a star’s wife earned more than the star.”
Kim Soo Mi then said, “When I was in my late 20s, after giving birth, I used to look out the window and think, ‘What is my life?’ To think that eight years later I would launch a cosmetics brand and have a period where I earned more than my husband—it surprised even me.”
These remarks resurfaced across various online communities following news of the couple’s divorce, as they included mentions that Kim Soo Mi did not know Gaeko’s exact income and that she struggled for several years after giving birth.
