ENHYPEN member Sunghoon has found himself in trouble after accidentally making a typo while trying to communicate in English with fans.

Recently, Sunghoon was using English and chatting with fans and wanting to write a “good job,” accidentally wrote, “a good ja/b.” J-b is considered a racial slur used against Japanese and is associated with anti-Japanese sentiments. It seems Sunghoon caught onto his mistake and quickly tried to correct it, and Jungwon even explained to fans that he was unfamiliar with the exact spelling and made the mistake.

Due to the backlash, Sunghoon ended up issuing an apology to Weverse on July 7, he wrote,

“It became an issue that I misspelled something in English during the listening party. I later realized the spelling was wrong and corrected it, but there was no intention behind it — it was simply a spelling mistake. Thank you to the ENGENEs who were concerned. I’ll be more careful moving forward.”
