Famous K-pop Idol-Actress Opens Up About the Challenges of Switching to Acting
Former Apink member and actress Son Na Eun spoke about the mindset she carries as an idol-turned-actress.
On July 22, the YouTube channel Hajiyoung posted a video titled “Son Na Eun Tells All — From Her Honest First Impression Meeting So Ji Sub to Getting Approached Abroad!” featuring a conversation with host Kim Bujang.
During the conversation, Son Na Eun opened up about the difficulty of being perceived as a “singer-turned-actress.” She said, “I always think to myself, ‘People must be judging me, right?’ That’s a tendency I have because I came from being a singer.”
She continued, “Even now, that feeling isn’t completely gone,” adding, “but it’s gotten a lot better, and I’m working on not feeling that way.”
She also said, “So it pushes me to work even harder and try to improve. When I get to set, I make an effort to approach people first to feel more at ease, and I end up smiling a lot. Because of that, I’ve started to feel like, ‘I can actually do this.'”
Son Na Eun debuted with Apink in 2011. Starting in 2012, she balanced singing with acting, and left Apink in 2022 to focus fully on her acting career.
