Former After School Member Lizzy Alarms Fans With Live Broadcast, Discusses Depression And Hints At Suicide

Former After School member and broadcaster Lizzy sparked concern among fans and viewers after candidly expressing severe feelings of depression during a personal SNS live broadcast.

Recently, Lizzy went live on Instagram, where she openly shared her thoughts about life in the entertainment industry and her current psychological state.

She said, “Being a celebrity is a job where everything is exposed,” adding, “If someone says they want to work in the public eye, I want to stop them. Especially for female idols, I think the difficulty level is high.”

She continued, “I don’t regret choosing this job itself, but I blame myself a lot for my actions,” and confessed, “My depression is so severe that after talking about life and death, my account got suspended, so I came here.”

Holding back tears, she said, “People ask why someone would want to die in such a good world, but it’s just too hard for me to live. If I’m struggling this much, what does it matter that the world is good?” which deepened the sense of concern.

During the broadcast, she particularly shocked viewers by saying, “I’ll try to live, but honestly, I really want to end my life.” After this remark, the comment section was flooded with messages of worry and pleas to stop, and the overall mood of the live stream quickly became heavy.

Throughout the broadcast, Lizzy was also visibly shaken by questions about her appearance, plastic surgery, and malicious comments.

In response to questions about plastic surgery, she firmly drew a line and mentioned that she had undergone an unavoidable revision surgery due to a past medical accident. The situation grew more chaotic as she appeared anxious after being unable to find her personal belongings, and eventually, after what seemed to be an acquaintance joined the conversation, the live broadcast ended abruptly.

The live stream caused a major stir as Lizzy’s depression and unstable mental state were laid bare. Fans left supportive comments such as “You’re not alone” and “It’s okay to rest for now,” expressing their hope for her stability and well-being.

Lizzy debuted in 2010 as a member of After School and received much love from the public. She also gained widespread popularity as part of the unit Orange Caramel alongside Nana and Raina. Recently, she has been making moves to resume activities, including holding a solo fan meeting in Tokyo, Japan.

Meanwhile, Lizzy had taken time away from activities after receiving a fine for a drunk driving incident in 2021 and had been preparing to return to domestic activities. Following this live broadcast, concerns about her mental health and future plans continue to grow.
