Former Girlfriend Of Kpop Idol Threatens To Leak Intimate Videos, Given Suspended Sentence For Her Crimes

A former girlfriend of a currently active male idol group member, referred to as “A” (26), has been sentenced to a suspended prison term for threats and other charges.

The Seoul Eastern District Court’s 12th Criminal Division, presided over by Judge Lee Jung Hyung, sentenced the ex-girlfriend, “B”, to one year in prison, suspended for two years. Additionally, the court ordered her to complete 40 hours of sex offender treatment classes and imposed a four-year employment restriction from institutions related to children, adolescents, and individuals with disabilities.

B and A had been in a relationship for approximately one year and four months, from November 2020 to March 2022. However, after the relationship became unstable, B’s behavior reportedly took a disturbing turn.

On December 10, 2021, B created a fake social media account using A’s face and sent a message saying, “Quit being an idol. The only path left is the military,” along with a sexually explicit video. Later, on January 4, 2022, she sent another message stating, “I’ll post all our pictures and videos and tag them.”

Additionally, on December 31, 2021, during an argument with A on a road in Buk-gu, Gwangju, B reportedly threw and broke A’s mobile phone.

The court stated, “B threatened to ruin A’s future by using intimate videos, which is a serious offense. A experienced considerable mental distress, including betrayal, anxiety, humiliation, and discomfort.”

However, the court also took into account that B admitted to the crimes, showed remorse, reached a settlement with A who withdrew the complaint, and that she did not actually distribute the video. These factors contributed to the lighter sentencing.
