FTISLAND’s Choi Minhwan Cleared From Solicitation and Forced Molestation Allegations, Issues Public Apology

FT Island’s Choi Minhwan, who was cleared of allegations of solicitation and forced molestation against his ex-wife Yulhee, issued a public statement expressing his thoughts and regrets.

On November 29, Choi Minhwan shared a lengthy post on his social media, beginning with an apology to fans for the concern caused. He explained that he chose to speak out only after investigations concluded, which revealed no criminal charges due to a lack of evidence.

Minhwan addressed the intense scrutiny during the investigation, saying premature comments could have worsened the situation, especially as distorted claims and speculations circulated widely. He emphasized his focus on resolving matters carefully, considering his children.

In his statement, Minhwan deeply apologized to fans and his FT Island bandmates for the difficulties caused by the controversy. He expressed regret and vowed to act with greater responsibility and maturity in the future.

Earlier, Yulhee accused Minhwan of visiting establishments during their marriage that allegedly involved solicitation, citing phone recordings to support her claims. Additionally, she accused him of inappropriate conduct, such as touching her in front of family members. Following these allegations, a complaint was filed against Minhwan, but the police concluded there was insufficient evidence to prosecute.

Yulhee clarified that these incidents were not the primary reasons for their legal proceedings. She has filed for custody changes, alimony, and property division through the Seoul Family Court, and the case is ongoing.

Minhwan has since stepped down from KBS2’s parenting show The Return of Superman, and related footage has been removed. FT Island continues its activities with two members while Minhwan addresses his personal matters.
