FTISLAND’s Choi Minhwan Will Perform Backstage At Upcoming Concert In Taiwan Due To His Controversy
FTISLAND’s Choi Minhwan, who is currently facing allegations of visiting a prostitution establishment, will be absent from the group’s upcoming activities.
On the evening of the 25th of October, FTISLAND’s Taiwan concert organizer announced via social media, “After several discussions, FTISLAND’s Kaohsiung concert will be held with Choi Minhwan participating off-stage due to personal reasons.” According to the announcement, Minhwan will play the drums from backstage.
In addition, FTISLAND is listed as part of the lineup for the Grand Mint Festival 2024 (GMF) scheduled for November 2nd. Following the controversy, GMF’s organizers informed Herald POP that they are discussing his participation. Later that evening, GMF organizers released a statement saying, “For the November 2nd FTISLAND performance, after consultation with the agency, we plan to replace member Choi Minhwan with a session musician. We will promptly announce any further updates.”
Previously, Minhwan’s ex-wife, former LABOUM member Yulhee, accused him of visiting adult establishments and posted a recording that allegedly shows him folding cash into the collar of her pajamas with “a chest area.”
In response, Minhwan’s agency, FNC Entertainment, stated, “While it is difficult for us to fully assess the details of the couple’s personal matters, Minhwan feels a deep sense of responsibility for disappointing the public. He has decided to suspend all media activities, including his participation in programs featuring his children.” KBS2’s The Return of Superman also confirmed Minhwan’s departure from the show.
Currently, the Gangnam Police Department in Seoul is investigating Minhwan in connection with potential violations of the Prostitution Act.
Choi Minhwan and Yulhee married in 2018 and have one son and two daughters together, though they divorced in December of last year.
