Both G-Dragon And Yang Hyun Suk Are Under Police Investigation For Copyright Infringement, Two Search And Seizures Already Conducted
G-Dragon and Yang Hyun Suk, the general producer of YG Entertainment, are under police investigation on charges of violating copyright law.
According to the police on the 12th of August, the Seoul Mapo Police Station received a complaint last November from composer A, claiming that they had copied his song without permission, and has been conducting an investigation.
It is reported that A claimed YG Entertainment copied his song “G-DRAGON” without his consent, arbitrarily changed the title to “When I Was Thirteen,” and produced and distributed it in G-Dragon’s album “Shine a light,” thereby violating copyright law.
In response, the police investigated the people involved in the case and reportedly conducted two searches and seizures at the YG Entertainment office and the Korea Music Copyright Association in Gangseo-gu.
A police official stated, “The investigation is currently underway, and we cannot confirm the specific details.”
In relation to this, YG Entertainment explained, “During the preparation process for G-Dragon’s solo performance in 2009, there was simply confusion over labeling two songs with the same title, and there was no unauthorized copying of the music.”
