Singer G-Dragon liked, then later unliked, an official statement posted by actor Kim Soo Hyun’s agency regarding allegations that were determined to be false.

On the 28th of May, it was revealed that G-Dragon had pressed “like” on a social media post containing the statement released the previous day by Kim Soo Hyun’s agency. The post stated that allegations raised by Kim Se Ui, head of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute, had been found through a police investigation to be malicious fabrications.

Previously, Kim had claimed that Kim Soo Hyun had dated the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. However, the investigation reportedly found that the mobile messenger conversations presented as evidence had been forged from another person’s messages, while the audio recording was determined to be a sophisticated fake voice created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Investigators reportedly discovered intentional alterations in at least seven places within the submitted materials, and the court issued an arrest warrant for Kim on charges including defamation, stalking, and violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.

Following the announcement of the investigation’s findings, the agency stated, “One year ago, Kim Soo Hyun promised at a press conference, ‘I won’t ask you to believe me. I will prove it.’ The past year has been devoted solely to keeping that promise. At last, through the legal process and a thorough investigation, the truth has been proven. We sincerely thank everyone who believed in and waited for Kim Soo Hyun.”

Meanwhile, G-Dragon is well known for frequently liking online posts while interacting with fans. During a past appearance on a variety show, he said, “I naturally press the heart button a lot. My beginning was ‘Heartbreaker.’ Since then, I’ve been spreading love,” referring to his playful approach to communication. His action was interpreted by some as a gesture of support celebrating the restoration of his close colleague’s reputation.

However, after some people criticized the action as careless, G-Dragon removed his “like” from the post.
