Popular JTBC Survival Show’s Debut Group Plans Scrapped, Fans Disappointed
It looks like the debut of the winning members of the audition program “Girls On Fire” has been scrapped!
The TOP5 members Lee Nayoung, Hwang Se-young, Lee Soo-young, Kang Yoon-jung, and Yang I-re will not be making their debut in a group as planned.
On December 23, Yang I-re shared on her social media, “I am truly grateful for all the love and support you have given even after the show ended. It’s already been almost six months, and I know many of you have been waiting for our debut and wondering about it. Unfortunately, the debut of the ‘Girls on Fire Top 5’ group that we all hoped for has been canceled.”
She continued, “I will not give up on my dream. For now, I am working diligently on songwriting and composing in my current position, and I hope you continue to support me. My dream is to become a singer who can convey hope and dreams to you through music and connect with you through it. I wish to meet a label and producer who can help me grow further,” asking for continued encouragement.
Kang Yoon-jung also expressed her feelings on social media. “The debut was canceled due to circumstances with the agency we were supposed to join as the final five winners. I’m sorry and grateful to everyone who supported and looked forward to us.”
She further shared, “It’s heartbreaking that we won’t be able to showcase the chemistry of the five of us, but I would deeply appreciate your support for each of our individual musical activities.”
She concluded, “It’s been six months since I couldn’t give a clear answer to the questions about our debut through DMs or comments, and it’s been weighing on my mind. Thank you for waiting.”
Meanwhile, “Girls on Fire” was an audition program aimed at forming a female vocal group proposing a “NEW K-POP.” The show concluded in June. Fans expressed disappointment as JTBC had previously canceled the debut of the winning team from their survival show “Mix Nine”, a collaboration with YG Entertainment.
