Youngjae, a member of the group GOT7, has fired back at the production company’s stance regarding the long-standing issue of unpaid appearance fees for the musical Dream High 2.

Recently, Youngjae personally opened up about his feelings regarding not getting paid for his appearance on the musical through his private social media account on the 9th of June.

Then, on the same day, the production company, Art One Company, spoke out about the unpaid fees. CEO Kim Eun Ha stated, “We have amicably agreed with Youngjae’s side to absolutely complete the settlement process for the remaining unpaid amount within June,” adding, “We consider our promise to the actor our top priority, and we will finalize the settlement within the promised timeframe.” However, Youngjae’s side has since denied this explanation.

In response to the CEO’s statement, Youngjae’s agency released an official statement as a rebuttal, they said, “The opposing party recently claimed that they had reached an amicable agreement with GOT7’s Youngjae’s side to absolutely complete the settlement process for the remaining unpaid balance within this June. However, we have never agreed to or finalized the end of June as the repayment timeline for the unpaid appearance fees.”

The agency also pointed out that the opposing party had only verbally mentioned drafting a repayment plan. Andbut Company noted, “While the other party verbally mentioned that they would write and deliver a repayment plan, they had already submitted a repayment plan at the end of last year and failed to actually keep the schedule proposed at that time. Therefore, our position is that it is difficult to view the mere submission of an additional repayment plan as sufficient confirmation of a substantial intent or ability to repay.”

Furthermore, the agency added, “We place the highest priority on protecting our artist’s rights and interests, and we are closely reviewing the progress up to this point and whether actual implementation takes place. In addition, we are continuing to pursue the necessary legal procedures regarding this matter.”

Youngjae starred in Dream High 2, which was performed last year, but has still not received his appearance fees. He filed a formal complaint against Art One Company this past January.
